The complete viscosity measurement site is portable and weighs 26 kg including its robust trolley case. The measurement site is the ideal choice to determine viscosity on site at oilfields, but it can also be simply and safely send to field labs. So the viscosity site is always at hand where it is required. Our customers appreciate the transportability of the site and therefore use it with a high workload.

The Viscosity Site consists of the control unit ViscoTemp 30150 with a cooling unit and a cylindrical rotational viscometer HaakeViscotester® 550. It includes sensors for measurement in low- and medium viscosity ranges for Searle-type measurements.

The ViscoTemp covers a temperature range from -30 °C to +150 °C (-22 °F to 302 °F) without requirement of an external cryostat. Thermoelectric modules are used to cover the temperature range with only tap water as cooling liquid. The advantage of these modules compared to common thermostats is, that no exchange of cooling liquid is neccessary to reach temperatures outside the range of 0 °C to 100 °C (32 °F to 212 °F).

The thermoelectric modules also allow faster measurings. With the ViscoTemp 30150 the measurement duration can be shortened to more than half of the time needed with a common cryostat. With its cooling rate e. g. +25 °C to -25 °C (-13 °F to 77 °F) in 15 minutes only, the ViscoTemp increases your throughput.

In comparison to other double jacket systems the ViscoTemp can reach a significant more homogeneous temperature distribution. The vertical temperature gradient of the wall is less than 0.3 °C, which provides more accurate results.

The software 'RheoWin' enables an easy and comfortable design and evaluation of test runs by controlling the site via PC.

Via the serial interface the control unit ViscoTemp can be updated with new firmware and thus be adapted to new requirements. For automatic calibration of the ViscoTemp PSL provides a calibration thermometer. A yearly calibration of the ViscoTemp should be executed to correct measuring deviations and reduce maintenance costs.

The HaakeViscotester® VT550 measures the viscosity of fluids and pastes fast, easy and reliable. The results - viscosity, shear stress, shear rate, yield point and operating temperature - are digitally displayed.

Additional measuring sensors, e.g. vane sensors for yield point measurement are available. With the vane sensor you can examine tixotroph media like critical shear force for wax deposition. So the HaakeViscotester® VT550 can be adapted to various applications.

More challenging tasks, e.g. the automatic measuring of flow behavior of non-newtonian substances can be directly executed with pre-defined routines. Via PC, experiment runs can be freely programmed, controlled on-line and be evaluated.

For viscosity measuring the Haake Viscotester® VT550 provides different factory set or adjustable rotational speed steps. The torque measuring with a non-contact, low displacement sensor increases the measurement precision, signal linearity and measuring range.
